Carry your drink out to the deck at the edge of the water and watch the sky turn copper over the sea toward Isla Catalina. Villa Sueño sits out on the Punta Águila promontory, a villa on the rocks where the surf breaks below the pool. Six bedrooms sleep twelve, with an included cook handling all the meals, so a family or a few couples can take the whole point to themselves for a week. You can walk from your room to drinks along a stone passage planted with greenery, open to the sky between the pavilions. By late morning the group splits — some swim to the edge of the pool above the rocks, others read under one of the open-air pavilions out of the sun. The high wood ceilings keep the rooms cool through the afternoon. When the walls slide back, the living rooms open onto the lawn, and dinner goes out on the long table above the water. Before the light goes, someone usually fires up the grill under the big shade tree. The point sits at the far western end of the resort, quiet and well off the through-roads. Teeth of the Dog, ranked the Caribbean’s top course by the World Golf Awards, and The Links are a short cart ride inland, with the Equestrian Center about the same distance. Minitas Beach is a short ride when the group wants sand underfoot, and the Marina’s restaurants are a longer drive east. Villa Sueño is the villa to book when you want a whole family or a few couples out on the ocean for a week, with the meals handled and no one else around. RESORT FEE All guests renting private villas at Casa de Campo Resort are required to register to gain access to the resort and its amenities.
