Tucked away down a tree lined driveway in Kaiapoi, this relaxed country farmhouse is the perfect place to unwind with friends or family. Just a short 15–20 minute drive from Christchurch Airport, it’s close to the city but feels like a real rural escape.
The house has four comfy bedrooms—one with a super king split bed downstairs (which can be made into two singles on request), one king bed, one queen bed, and one king single. There’s plenty of space to spread out and get cosy.
This is a working farm, so from time to time, friendly folks may be around to check on the animals or tend to the flower market garden. It’s all part of the charm—and guests are welcome to enjoy the peaceful vibe while being mindful of farm activity.
Upstairs has three of the bedrooms and a full bathroom with complimentary toiletries. You’ll also get lovely views over the gardens and paddocks from up there.
Downstairs, you’ll find the super king bedroom, another bathroom, a comfy living room, a dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen. There are two fireplaces to keep you toasty in winter, plus extra heaters throughout. Head outside and you’ll find loads of space to explore—there’s a big backyard, deck, country-style gardens, and plenty of spots to sit, relax, or play.
You’re also really close to great local spots—just 5 minutes to Woodend, 7 minutes to Kaiapoi, 10 minutes to The Pines Beach, and 8 minutes to Woodend Beach. Want to head out for a meal or drink? The Brewpub on the Kaiapoi River (where the River Queen is docked) is only 4km down the road.
The house is attached to another 3-bedroom home, which might have other guests during your stay, but there’s still plenty of privacy and space to enjoy.
We can also set up two fold-out beds for extra guests—just let us know when you book.
If you’re after a relaxing rural break with space for the whole family (and a bit of farm life thrown in), this is the spot!

About the area
Christchurch, known as the "Garden City," is a vibrant urban center that offers a unique blend of historic charm and innovative reconstruction, making it a fascinating destination for travelers. The city is the gateway to New Zealand's South Island and is framed by the majestic Southern Alps and the Pacific Ocean, providing a picturesque backdrop for a variety of activities.
One of the city's most endearing features is the Avon River, which meanders through the heart of Christchurch, offering peaceful punting experiences reminiscent of Cambridge, England. The Botanic Gardens, a lush sanctuary of flora, are a testament to the city's nickname, with extensive collections of plants and flowers that create a serene environment for leisurely strolls or picnics.
The city's resilience and creativity are on full display in the innovative urban spaces that have emerged following the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes. The Cardboard Cathedral, designed by architect Shigeru Ban, is an iconic symbol of this rebirth, showcasing both ingenuity and beauty. The Re:START Mall, a shopping area made from shipping containers, adds a colorful and eclectic vibe to the retail experience.
Christchurch is also a hub for arts and culture, with the Christchurch Art Gallery hosting an impressive collection of national and international art. Street art and murals have flourished in the city, adding a dynamic layer to the urban landscape and reflecting the community's spirit.
For those seeking adventure, Christchurch serves as a base for exploring the natural wonders of the South Island. Nearby, the Banks Peninsula offers stunning vistas, hiking trails, and marine wildlife encounters in Akaroa Harbour. The Canterbury region is also home to world-class vineyards, providing ample opportunities for wine tasting and gastronomic indulgence.
Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do, from mountain biking in the Port Hills to hot air ballooning over the Canterbury Plains. In winter, the nearby ski fields of Mount Hutt and Porters are easily accessible for those looking to hit the slopes.
Christchurch's accommodation options range from luxury hotels to cozy bed and breakfasts, catering to all preferences and budgets. The city's dining scene is equally diverse, with an emphasis on fresh, local produce and a growing number of innovative eateries.
In essence, Christchurch is a city that offers a rich tapestry of experiences, from its verdant gardens and poignant history to its adventurous outdoor activities and burgeoning cultural scene. It's a place where the spirit of innovation and the warmth of its people make for an unforgettable visit.
