I have been living in Canberra for quite some time and can help you navigate your way around the local area if you need me. I can also provide you with tips on the best places to go for food or just to have fun!
You’ll be staying in the redeveloped Kingston Foreshore, just a few minutes’ stroll from the waterfront cafés and restaurants at Kingston Harbour, and from Lake Burley Griffin, with its scenic shoreline, boat hire, and walking and cycling paths.
The ‘around Lake Burley Griffin’ cycle route—easily shortened via two bridges—is considered one of Australia’s best recreational rides. Nearby, the arts precinct features Canberra’s original historic power station, now a creative hub for glassworks, as well as the famous Old Bus Depot Markets held on Sundays.
A short walk also brings you to the pubs, cafés, and restaurants of Green Square, the heart of the original Kingston Shops area, which includes a post office, pharmacy, and well-stocked supermarket. Just a 20-minute walk further takes you to Telopea Park, Manuka Oval, boutique shops, and the historic art-deco swimming pool.
Within a few kilometres along the lakeside paths—or a short bus ride—you’ll find the Parliamentary Triangle, home to the Central Basin of Lake Burley Griffin, the National Gallery, and many national institutions.
Other nearby attractions include several parks, Jerrabomberra Wetlands Nature Reserve, the Canberra Railway Museum, and the Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets (Thurs–Sun), ensuring there’s always something to explore.
Kingston is one of Canberra’s oldest and most vibrant neighbourhoods, offering everything within easy walking distance while also providing convenient access to the city’s wider attractions.
Bring your walking shoes and bikes; many local attractions and amenities are within easy walking or cycling distance. Both the Parliamentary Triangle and Canberra City Centre can be reached almost entirely on off-road paths that form part of Canberra’s main cycling network.
Regular buses on nearby Wentworth Avenue provide access to the Parliamentary Triangle and Canberra City Centre with connections to other parts of Canberra.
Any violation of our no-party rule will result in a $2000 non-negotiable penalty, in addition to any damages.
