Welcome to Villa Kuro by Property Manager.
Villa Kuro is an award-winning, design-driven retreat minutes from Joshua Tree park entrance, where modern minimalism and wabi-sabi elements meet the soulful tranquility of the desert. Guests describe it as “one of the most well thought-out stays in the world,” a sanctuary that features a salt water hot tub nestled in massive boulders, outdoor shower, firepit with views of entire valley and spa like bathrooms.
Villa Kuro is intended for slow living, providing an escape from the noise and stress of urban life. The home sits at the end of a very small and peaceful residential neighborhood in south Joshua Tree. It’s great for those seeking a still quiet, but not completely isolated location from civilization.
Since we have well over 500 5-STAR reviews, we will use quotes from real guests to help describe the experience you will enjoy with your stay at Villa Kuro.
A SERENE, DESIGN-LED HOME
Inside, visitors find “meticulously clean, cozy, and well-equipped spaces,” from the serene bedrooms with soft, "cloudlike bedding” to "curated reading nooks and a tranquil tea room". “Seeing the sunrise from bed” can be the best way to start your day. Guests note the sense of deep calm as soon as they walk through the door, calling the home “a peaceful sanctuary” and “the epitome of simple luxury.” Every detail has been “thoughtfully curated with comfort and views in mind.”
NESTLED AMONG BOULDERS & WILDLIFE
The home is “set high above with 360 views of mountains and sunset” as well as looking down on “twinkling city lights at night”. The lush desert yard is alive with quail, jackrabbits, roadrunners and showcases a variety of native cacti, flowering desert plants and joshua trees. Many guests say the outdoor areas are “absolutely gorgeous,” a private vantage point for some of Joshua Tree’s most "incredible sunsets" viewed from up high by the fire pit lounge. Just down the street via a “3 minute walk to the Friendly Hills Trailhead” you can enjoy a free 1.8 mile hike loop with no crowds and allow dogs.
THE ICONIC ROCK-SIDE HOT TUB
The salt water "hot tub is set against a hillside of sculpted rock formations" backing to the national park “and in the other direction is a 50-mile expansive view of the valley”. From sunrise calm to star-lit nights, guests call it “pure magic” and often say “stargazing in the hot tub” was one of their most memorable moments in the desert. There is also well loved "outdoor shower in the boulders". Backing to the park land, the sky is very dark making it ideal for spotting the Milky Way, constellations, meteors, etc.
A PLACE TO RESET, RECHARGE, REMEMBER
Villa Kuro is more than a place to stay—it’s a “retreat”. Guests leave feeling “restored and creatively inspired”. One recently said “we wish we could have stayed for a week just to enjoy the space, be cozy, and stare at the stars”. It is, in every sense, “a true oasis in Joshua Tree” and “one of the most remarkable homes Ive ever stayed in”.
Villa Kuro has been featured in more than two dozen architectural magazines and publishers worldwide, including Dwell, ELLE Decor, ELLE Decor Italy, ELLE Decor Spain, Vogue Paris, Architectural Digest Mexico, Modern Decoration China, RUE mag, Dezeen, and many more. In addition, the home has been published in three books, "World’s Best - 50 Interiors From Around The Globe (2023)", "A HOME AWAY FROM HOME - Exceptional Houses for Discerning Travelers (2022)” and "House Stories: Old vs New (2022)”. Several campaigns have also been shot at Villa Kuro such as Crate & Barrel, Lulu & Georgia, Parachute, KonMari by Marie Kondo, McGee & Co., ALO Yoga, Huckberry and more.
