Downtown Miami is one of the most connected neighborhoods in South Florida. You can reach most major attractions without a car.
FREE METROMOVER (Recommended): The Metromover is a free elevated train that loops through Downtown Miami, Brickell, and the Omni/Arts district. Multiple stations are within a 3–5 minute walk of 501 First Residences. It runs daily from 5 AM to midnight and connects to the Metrorail system for wider access. Use it to reach Brickell restaurants and bars, the government center area, and connecting rail lines — all for free.
BRIGHTLINE (Fast Rail): Brightline’s MiamiCentral station is an 8-minute walk from the building. Brightline offers fast, comfortable rail service to:
-Fort Lauderdale — 30 minutes
-Boca Raton — 45 minutes
-West Palm Beach — 60 minutes
-Orlando — 3.5 hours. This is an excellent option for day trips or if you’re coming from Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beach airports.
RIDESHARE & TAXI: Uber and Lyft are widely available and are the most convenient way to reach destinations beyond walking distance. Typical ride costs (approximately) from the building:
-Miami Beach / South Beach — $12–18 (15 min)
-Wynwood — $8–12 (8 min)
-Miami International Airport (MIA) — $18–25 (20 min)
-Hard Rock Stadium (World Cup) — $25–40 (30 min, surge pricing likely on match days)
-Port of Miami (cruise terminal) — $8–12 (8 min)
AIRPORT ACCESS:
-Miami International Airport (MIA) — 8 miles, approximately 20 minutes by car/rideshare. The most direct route is via FL-836 West.
-Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) — 28 miles, approximately 35 minutes by car or 30 minutes by Brightline train from MiamiCentral to Fort Lauderdale station + short rideshare.
FOR WORLD CUP MATCH DAYS: Hard Rock Stadium is approximately 17 miles north in Miami Gardens (about 30 min by car on non-match days). On match days expect heavy traffic. Your best options:
-Rideshare (Uber/Lyft) — leave 2+ hours before kickoff, expect surge pricing
-Brightline + shuttle — take Brightline from MiamiCentral to Aventura station, then use the FIFA match-day shuttle to the stadium
-If driving — the stadium has parking but arrive very early. Traffic after the match can take 1–2 hours to clear. Tip: For a no-stress experience, watch at the FIFA Fan Festival at Bayfront Park instead — it’s a 5-minute walk from your door with giant screens, live music, and 30,000 fans, completely free.
SCOOTERS & BIKES: Electric scooters (Lime, Bird) and bike-share stations are available throughout Downtown Miami. Note: scooters and bikes are not allowed in the building’s main lobby or residential elevators.
