This single-family mill home is located in West Columbia’s New Brookland Historic District - an up and coming pocket neighborhood just over the river from downtown Columbia with single-family homes and duplexes dating from the early 1900s. Many of these homes have been owned for generations and some show signs of wear and their age. With older historically lower income neighborhoods like this, you will see visible deferred maintenance and sometimes yards and front porches with a collection of random objects, some may call it hoarding. This neighborhood is completely safe despite some of the decrepit homes and with the new $40 million dollar mixed-use development like Brookland and the ongoing State Street revitalization, this area is only getting better and better!
My husband David and I used to live on this street and have always wanted to make our way back. The proximity to downtown Columbia and the hopping Vista area can’t be beat. Plus, are are within a few minutes walk to West Columbia’s Riverwalk!
5 minutes walk to Cafe Strudel & our favorite Old Mill Antique Mall & Plant Store
6 minutes walk to West Columbia Riverfront Park & Amphitheater
6 minute walk to brand new Asian fusion restaurant Palate on State Street
6 minute walk to Black Rooster - a new restaurant with a rooftop bar overlooking the river and downtown Columbia
8 minute walk to Terra - one of our favorite restaurants!
9 minute walk to Al’s Upstairs Italian Restaurant with great views of the river and downtown Columbia
10 minute walk or 3 minute drive to Bi-Lo Grocery Store
12 minute walk or 3 minute drive to CVS Pharmacy
3 minutes drive to Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts
4 minute drive to Publix Super Market
5 minutes drive to the heart of USC’s campus
5 minutes drive to the Koger Center, Columbia’s Metropolitan Convention Center and Colonial Life Arena
7 minutes drive to Riverbanks Zoo & Botanical Gardens
8 minutes drive to Williams Brice Stadium / USC Football
20 minutes drive to the Fort Jackson Visitors Center
Uber and Lyft are the best options for getting around without your vehicle. Otherwise, there are options for groceries and dining within walking distance to the house.
There is a separate rental unit in the back yard that has a long-term tenant. Therefore, you may see another individual enter and exit the gate to the left of the front of the house during your stay. The entries and yard spaces are separate as is parking. Please respect each other’s privacy during your stay.
