Emplacement
Famous ski resort, Chamonix is renowned for its location at the foot of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe. Capital of mountaineering, Chamonix is much more than a resort: 10 ski areas make up its valley, an authentic and lively city center and many activities are offered in winter as well as in summer (snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, dog sledding, magnificent spa facing Mont Blanc, hikes to high altitude lakes, mountain biking...). Other tourist places are very appreciated: the Aiguille du Midi, starting point for the mythical Vallée Blanche, invites you to a unique experience at 3,800 m altitude, or the Montenvers Railway, leading to the Mer de Glace. The latter is a valley of glaciers 7.5 km long. Spectacular landscapes are to be discovered throughout the year.
