Casa Eleonora is situated in Lagos. Lagos is a small coastal town and one of the most popular and attractive holiday destinations in the Algarve. It has a rich history and today the traces of its glorious history are still visible. Lagos is one of the older cities and was a Moorish city until the 13th century. It is perhaps most famous because in the 15th century it became the center of the discovery travels. You will still find old churches, the old fortified city walls and the beautiful old mansions.
Lagos has a very laid back southern atmosphere. It attracts a typical mix of surfers, hippie chic couples, outdoor fans and families with children. The past years it’s popularity has been unprecedented and there are a lot of older and new bars and restaurants. You will find the freshest fish here but you can just as easy find organic health food or vegan or vegetarian meals.
Lagos is all about health and being outdoors. The vast beautiful coastline and the stunning nature surrounding Lagos offer many activities and experiences for every season. Here are some ideas: golf, (wind)surfing, sailing, boat trips, dolphin watching, horse riding, guided walks,( mountain)biking.
Transit
You can reach Lagos in about one hour by car from Faro Airport and car rental is available in the parking lot of the airport. By train it will take about 2,5 to 3 hours.
Lagos has a train station (for travel towards Faro, Lisbon and Porto) and a bus station (for buses towards the west-side of the south coast) but do note that buses and trains only go a few times per day. You can easily get around without a car and there are plenty of taxis and Ubers available, but if you really want to explore the area surrounding Lagos, a (rental) car will make your life a whole lot easier.
