Neighborhood Overview:
Sea Glass Cottage is conveniently located on the laid-back north end of the island and is a quick drive to all of the island’s best dining and shopping. Although it is about as close as you can get to the historic downtown while still being on the beach, the north end of the island tends to be a little bit quieter than most other areas of the island as there is minimal through traffic. The beach is generally not very crowded and is frequented by locals and surfers.
Within walking distance, you will find Main Beach which features the Salt Life and Sandbar Kitchen restaurants, a playground, and beachside putt putt golf. From Main Beach, Amelia Island’s downtown historic district is just a short drive down Atlantic Avenue. There you will find plenty of wonderful restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and local culture. Fort Clinch State Park is also located along Atlantic Avenue. The park features the 19th century Fort Clinch (open to the public for tours), a great beach, and lots of beautiful trails for hiking or biking.
Getting Around:
Amelia Island is a small area and is easy to navigate! There is free parking available throughout the entire island, making driving very easy to any place you choose to visit.
Although Uber/Lyft are not very reliable on the island (we strongly recommend bringing a car), they are available through the app on your smartphone.
Bike rentals are available at "The Beach Store" located approximately two miles south of Sea Glass Cottage. Riptide Watersports also delivers bikes.
