Emplacement
A famous ski resort, Chamonix is renowned for its location at the foot of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe. The capital of mountaineering, Chamonix has much more than a resort: 10 ski areas make up its valley, an authentic and lively town centre and many activities are offered in winter and summer (snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, dog sledding, magnificent spa facing Mont Blanc, hikes to altitude lakes, mountain biking...). Other tourist spots are highly appreciated: the Aiguille du Midi, starting point for the mythical Vallée Blanche, invites you to a unique experience at 3,800m altitude, or the Chemin de Ferrer du Montenvers, leading to the Mer de Glace. The latter is a 7.5 km long valley of glaciers. Spectacular scenery is on offer throughout the year.
