Nature lovers will find much to explore at nearby Lovers Key State Park, a secluded and natural enclave that offers hiking, biking, and the chance to spot wildlife such as manatees and dolphins. The park's unspoiled beaches are also a prime spot for shelling, a popular pastime in the area.
Boating and fishing are integral parts of the Fort Myers Beach experience, with numerous charters available for those looking to reel in a big catch or simply enjoy a day on the water. The back bay estuaries provide a serene setting for kayaking and canoeing, where paddlers can glide through mangrove forests and tranquil waters.
For a touch of history and culture, visitors can explore the Mound House, a museum situated on an ancient Calusa Indian shell mound. The site offers insight into the rich history of the region and the indigenous people who once inhabited it.
Fort Myers Beach also serves as a gateway to the wider region, with easy access to the neighboring islands of Sanibel and Captiva, known for their pristine nature reserves and world-famous shelling beaches.
