Location:
Located on the edge a lovely lakeside village, this villa is in close proximity to a variety of restaurants that serve up mouthwatering Italian cuisine. Hike or cycle around the immediate area to find other spots of beauty; some of the routes take you to Lake Maggiore (which you can admire from the villa), where you’ll find some great spaces to have a picnic.
Stresa is the nearest town, known for its winding streets that reveal Italian boutiques, cafés and restaurants. Wander down the promenade which stretches over a kilometre, adjacent to the stunning lake; you’ll find picturesque gardens, Roman statues and beautiful monuments. Stop off at one of the vendors and enjoy a nice snack or a cool drink while watching the boats pass by.
At one end of the promenade there is a ferry port where you can visit a number of exciting places. Situated in the middle of the lake, the three Borromean Islands are a great place to catch a ferry to: historical sites, wonderful gardens and stunning architecture are all found there. There are loads of different and exciting villages to explore via ferry, where you can indulge in wine, sight-see and explore the winding streets.
Take the hour train to Milan (92km) from Stresa station for a fantastic day out. Situated in the popular Piazza del Duomo, Milan Cathedral is a fascinating 14th century building that took over 600 years to be fully constructed and is a wonderful piece of architecture to admire. Castello Sforzesco, a castle dating back to the 15th century, the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie and Sant’ Ambrogio Church are just some of the historical sites to discover. With a variety of museums, galleries, bars and restaurants, you’ll make lots of great memories exploring this city.
