Location:
With a public footpath running along the boundary of the villa, enjoying a lakeside stroll couldn’t be easier. A pebble beach is just a ’stone’s throw away’ too. Here you can go swimming in the lake, as well as windsurfing, waterskiing and sailing.
Keep walking along Lake Como to reach the centre of Pianello del Lario village with its shops, restaurant, bank and post office. You can keep walking along the promenade to take in picturesque lake views and charming towns along the way.
Just behind the villa is a boat museum that features hundreds of lake boats dating from the 19th century to more modern times. It’s a great way of learning about Lake Como’s nautical history over the last couple of centuries.
Former fishing village, Santa Maria Rezzonico (4km), is further south along the lake from the villa. Its narrow streets are full of archways and stairways, creating a maze-like feel to the town. Along with plenty of beautiful stone buildings, there are several historic sites of interest. These include ornate 14th-century church of Santa Maria Assunta and the towering castle that overlooks the town.
The old town of Menaggio (10km) is well worth a visit, with a mostly-ruined, medieval castle and its walls that you can walk along for spectacular lake views. There’s also a Lido by the water with swimming pools, a sandy beach and plenty of activities for children.
Walk around the lovely botanical garden that’s full of ancient trees and colourful plants at Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo (15km). Also marvel at the extensive art on show inside the museum housed inside the villa.
Be sure to visit the cosmopolitan city of Como (46km) to enjoy its historic centre, shops, restaurants and café culture. You can also catch the train to stylish Milan from here.

With its idyllic location at the junction of the lake's three branches, Bellagio is renowned for its stunning landscapes, elegant architecture, and serene atmosphere, making it a favorite among travelers seeking both relaxation and beauty.
The town's cobbled streets and stairways are lined with colorful buildings, chic boutiques, and quaint cafes, inviting leisurely strolls and opportunities to soak in the local culture. The lakeside promenade offers breathtaking views of the water and surrounding mountains, and is the perfect spot for an evening passeggiata.
One of Bellagio's most famous attractions is the Villa Melzi, a neoclassical masterpiece set within exquisite gardens that bloom with azaleas and rhododendrons in the spring. The villa's museum and botanical gardens are open to the public, providing a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the Lombard aristocracy.
Another must-visit is the grand Villa Serbelloni, which sits atop the hill overlooking the town. Now owned by the Rockefeller Foundation, the villa's park is open for guided tours, offering visitors the chance to explore its lush gardens and enjoy panoramic views of Lake Como.
For those interested in local craftsmanship, Bellagio is known for its fine silk products and artisan shops where you can find handcrafted leather goods and intricate woodwork. The town's small but charming historical center, with its Romanesque church and stone buildings, tells the story of Bellagio's ancient roots.
Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do in and around Bellagio. The lake itself is a playground for water sports, from sailing and windsurfing to kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. The surrounding hills offer hiking and cycling paths with scenic vistas at every turn.
Gastronomy is another highlight of Bellagio, with restaurants serving delicious Lombard cuisine, fresh lake fish, and regional wines. Dining al fresco by the lake as the sun sets is an experience not to be missed.
In essence, Bellagio is a destination that offers a harmonious blend of natural beauty, historical richness, and Italian charm. It's a place where one can indulge in the leisurely pace of lake life, immerse in the elegance of bygone eras, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
