The surrounding area is known for its limestone rock formations, caves, and underground rivers. Visitors can explore the Škocjan Caves (a 25-minute drive), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Postojna Cave (a 40-minute drive), famous for its stalactites and stalagmites or the nearby Strunjan Nature Reserve (a 15-minute drive), a popular destination for coastal walks. In Koper visitors can relax on the town’s beaches, take scenic walks along the waterfront promenade, or explore the medieval architecture, narrow cobblestone streets and Renaissance palaces.
