Once a set of farm buildings, the stone structures have been restored into twelve cottages and apartments using traditional Tuscan stone, terracotta ceilings and floors and each has a furnished garden/terrace to dine al fresco in the cool evening breeze. Foodies will want to explore the region’s Strada del Vino Montecucco e dei Sapori d’Amiata where artisans of locally recognised products from wine, cheese and oil olive to Saffron, truffles and honey, open their doors for tastings. The more relaxed spa town of Saturnia at 30km boasts Etruscan ruins, hot springs and a piazza lined with divine restaurants including one that serves the best ravioli ever!
