The Cataract Gorge is found right at your doorstep. Here you will find a spectacular natural formation where you can enjoy long and short walks, fresh water swimming basins, the world's longest single-span chairlift, a play area, BBQ’s and vibrant peacocks! An additional, unique way to experience this attraction is via the Tamar Cruise vessel, which cruises through the waters that carve between the rocky formations. The Gorge Restaurant serves lunch and dinner in an intimate dining setting. Choose to dine inside next to the fireplace, or sit amongst the fresh Tasmanian wilderness and wildlife in the alfresco dining area. Whilst visiting, we would recommend visiting the Duck Reach Power Station, Australia’s first publicly-owned hydro-electric power station. West Launceston is walking distance to Launceston’s city centre, although it is quite the hill. Within the city, you will have access to many tasty cafés and restaurants, an array of shops and boutiques and a vast range of cocktail bars and pubs. There are many local parks dotted throughout the city including Princes Square, full of historical fountains, and the City Park which is known for its beautiful oak tree gardens, playground for the children, a plant-filled conservatory and cheeky snow monkeys.
