NEIGHBORHOOD
Montorfano is a small municipality in the province of Como. It takes 15 minutes to drive to the centre of Como city. Additionally, it takes around 15 minutes to walk to the public beach ("lido") with a beach bar and restaurant.
GETTING AROUND
For the guests’ convenience, we suggest arriving by car. That way you can easily access both Como and Lecco as well as shops and restaurants in the area.
Travelling to and from Montorfano is also doable with public transport, although more challenging if you wish to explore a lot. There is an ASF Autolinee bus stop near the property, and bus lines can take you to Como city and other lakeside towns. Tickets can be obtained from the driver (cash only) or at the main bus station in Como. Please note that the buses don’t run very often and services stop at around 8 pm! Taxi rides are available, but not easily attainable in the region.
From Como, it is easy to travel to Milan and Switzerland (Lugano, Bellinzona, Locarno) by train. There are also public ferries traveling to other lakeside towns from the pier in Como center. Please be advised that the waiting lines at the ticket office can be long, you can also buy the tickets on the Navigazione Laghi website.
The nearest airports are Milano Malpensa, Milano Linate, and Orio Al Serio in Bergamo. It is possible to arrange a direct shuttle to and from the airport at an additional cost.
For more questions regarding transportation, please do not hesitate to contact us, we will be happy to help and ensure that you reach your preferred destination!
TIPS
>To travel and walk around Lake Como, especially in the little towns, comfortable shoes are a must.
>There are many public drinking-water fountains in the little towns, and the water is safe to drink unless stated otherwise. Tap water is also drinkable. You can carry your own refillable bottle!
>In Italy, many shops (especially the little ones) and services are closed in the middle of the day, so be careful to plan your shopping accordingly.
>Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are prohibited in many areas and can be dangerous. For those who wish to dwell in the water, however, there are some options. In Como city, there is an outdoor pool near Villa Olmo, but swimming in the lake is mostly not recommended or forbidden. Locals and visitors also enjoy traveling to Nesso where the bravest swimmers can jump into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall.
>The property is located in a mountainous region. The surrounding pre-Alps might not seem very high, but the climate is nevertheless affected by the nearby mountains, and temperatures can change quickly. Be particularly attentive to the weather when hiking, and bring some warm and waterproof clothes with you!

Bellagio, often referred to as the "Pearl of Lake Como," is a picturesque town that epitomizes the allure of the Italian Lakes region. With its idyllic location at the junction of the lake's three branches, Bellagio is renowned for its stunning landscapes, elegant architecture, and serene atmosphere, making it a favorite among travelers seeking both relaxation and beauty.
The town's cobbled streets and stairways are lined with colorful buildings, chic boutiques, and quaint cafes, inviting leisurely strolls and opportunities to soak in the local culture. The lakeside promenade offers breathtaking views of the water and surrounding mountains, and is the perfect spot for an evening passeggiata.
One of Bellagio's most famous attractions is the Villa Melzi, a neoclassical masterpiece set within exquisite gardens that bloom with azaleas and rhododendrons in the spring. The villa's museum and botanical gardens are open to the public, providing a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the Lombard aristocracy.
Another must-visit is the grand Villa Serbelloni, which sits atop the hill overlooking the town. Now owned by the Rockefeller Foundation, the villa's park is open for guided tours, offering visitors the chance to explore its lush gardens and enjoy panoramic views of Lake Como.
For those interested in local craftsmanship, Bellagio is known for its fine silk products and artisan shops where you can find handcrafted leather goods and intricate woodwork. The town's small but charming historical center, with its Romanesque church and stone buildings, tells the story of Bellagio's ancient roots.
Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do in and around Bellagio. The lake itself is a playground for water sports, from sailing and windsurfing to kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. The surrounding hills offer hiking and cycling paths with scenic vistas at every turn.
Gastronomy is another highlight of Bellagio, with restaurants serving delicious Lombard cuisine, fresh lake fish, and regional wines. Dining al fresco by the lake as the sun sets is an experience not to be missed.
