The historic seaside village, which originated as a seaport of Sant’Elpidio a Mare, has now become a well-equipped seaside resort. It is characterized by a sand and gravel beach that runs for over seven kilometres, between the town and the sea. The large pine forest near the sea is bordered by a cycle path. Among the accommodation facilities present, the campsites located along the coast stand out above all: vast areas surrounded by greenery, perfectly equipped, represent an ideal environment for lovers of open-air holidays. Worth a visit: the ancient Clock Tower, symbol of the city, erected to defend against pirate invasions; the Church of the Annunziata and the noble villas, such as Villa Murri and Villa Barrucchello, which are used, especially in summer, for cultural events. In the locality of Cova, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sorrows was founded in the 16th century. From a naturalistic point of view, the Tenna basin is interesting, known as the "Paludi di San Marco", especially for ornithological observation in late autumn and early spring.
