The McKenzie River House
Rising from the ashes of the devastating Holiday Farm Fire of 2020 that destroyed this and 400 other homes in the area, this riverside retreat now returns after a two-and-a-half-year rebuilding process to once again welcome guests to the scenic splendor of the McKenzie River. This inspiring riverfront showcases stylish, modern architecture with fantastic outdoor amenities that will make you feel like you’re floating on water! Guests enjoy easy water access for fishing, rafting, or kayaking and the property is midway between McKenzie Bridge and the Springfield/Eugene area, just 37 miles away.
Inside, a dramatic front wall of windows provides floor-to-ceiling views overlooking the McKenzie River. Comfortable lounge furniture makes the open-concept living room, dining room, and kitchen an inviting spot to enjoy the company of friends and family. Tie fly-fishing flies from the comfort of the sofa or find yourself watching a movie on cable. A gas-powered fireplace keeps the space intimate and down to earth. Complimentary in-home WiFi makes it easy to stay in touch on social media, browse the web, or catch up on some remote work. Celebrate meals as a group while the phenomenal views feed your senses around the charming wood dining table. Meal prep is made easier with help from a well-stocked kitchen and there’s additional seating at the breakfast bar. Once the plates are cleared, leave the cleanup to the dishwasher while you dive into a good book by the fire or get lost in a puzzle or game.
Outside, the large deck sets the scene for outdoor dining and relaxing on romantic, star-lit evenings with epic views of the river providing the backdrop. Choose between the beach firepit or the outdoor kitchen to roast hot dogs (it’s more fun on a stick) or s’mores by nightfall. Kick up your feet on the outdoor furniture and let the flow of the river wash away your worries.
When not relaxing on the decks, the river and surrounding region provide ample opportunity for outdoor recreation! Catch your fishing limit of trout, steelhead, or salmon from the banks of the river, just steps away from the decks, or hire an area guide for a truly memorable experience. Nearby is Tokatee Golf Club, ranked as one of the best in the US, the McKenzie River Trail, ranked the number one mountain biking trail in the US, Hoodoo Ski Resort and Cougar Dam, and Hot Springs. Plan a day trip on the trails and playground at Spencer and Skinner Butte Park. Alton Baker Park is a popular spot for canoeing and provides a boat launch and dog park in the Springfield / Eugene area. For a bit of history and educational exhibits visit Dorris Ranch to learn about the Pioneers or the Cascade Raptor Center to learn about birds of prey. Nearby Springfield and Eugene are brimming with culture and feature art galleries, craft breweries, nightlife, and family-friendly entertainment. The University of Oregon has year-round educational and sporting events.
Wherever you roam, you’ll love coming home to this incredible home on the bank of the McKenzie River.
