The Great Bear Lodge is a 3BR/3BA cozy cabin in Vilas. Just 5 miles away from the historic town of Valle Crucis, this home is close to many mountain adventures. Valle Crucis is home to the Mast General store, which offers goods from backpacks and walking boots to old-time candy, and everything in between. Right behind the store is Valle Crucis Community Park, with playgrounds, walking trails, sports fields, and access to the New River where you can swim and fish. Birdsong is 7 miles to Boone, with local shopping and restaurants, along with attractions like Boone Golf Course, Tweetsie Railroad Amusement Park, High Gravity Adventures Zipline and Aerial Park, and Appalachian Ski Mountain.

Payment and Cancellation - 60 Day Policy
Grace Period:
- Guests may cancel for free provided that: (1) reservation is canceled within 48-hours of reservation request, and (2) reservation request was made 11 days before arrival.
Payment Policy:
- 60 days or less prior to arrival: Guests pay 100% at time of reservation.
- More than 60 days before arrival: Guests pay 50% at time of reservation, the remaining 50% will be charged 60 days prior to arrival.
- For guests paying with points: 100% of payment will be deducted at time of reservation, once booking is verified within 48 hours.
Cancellation Policy:
- 60 days or less prior to arrival: No refund issued, unless ‘Grace Period’ applies.
- More than 60 days before arrival: 100% refund.
House Rules
- Kids welcome. Smoking not allowed.
