Well equipped for families with children and aesthetically beautiful, this villa has four calming bedrooms and a gorgeous infinity pool. The pool looks out over the surrounding nature and provides a cooling respite from the Mediterranean sunshine. At night, the villa is illuminated and is reflected beautifully in the pool.
Perfect for a visit at any time of year, this dream holiday home is designed with temperature control, so the house stays cool in the summer, toasty and warm in the winter. In the cooler months, curl up by the fire with a glass of mulled wine and admire the sea for the ultimate hygge experience.
Bedrooms are decorated in blue and cosy neutral tones, with some rooms painted in cornflower blue. There is one double room, one small double and two twin rooms, so there’s plenty of choice for up to eight guests in total. Statement maritime blue headboards pop against fresh white, while vintage-style painted furniture adds a chic edge. All rooms have their own ensuite bathrooms, and some have their very own private balconies to enjoy the lovely views.

Pendant lighting adds depth, while the space is decorated in calming tones with natural light streaming through the floor to ceiling windows. There are so many choices for dining - around the table in the spacious kitchen, up at the breakfast bar, or out on the terrace.
For those who love to keep active when they go away, there is an exceptionally well-equipped gym that boasts a spinning bike, TRX bands, a pilates ring and yoga blocks. There’s plenty of floor space for workouts and additional equipment like exercise balls that keep everything fun.

Location:
Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian islands, is a fantastic destination for a family holiday. Villa Kalokairi is nestled in a quiet village, enveloped in nature yet not too far from the bustling town square and quaint alleyways in Lixouri. The village is called Chavriata and known as the Balcony of the Ionian, because of its panoramic views of the lowlands and the gleaming sea. The airport is located 50km away by car, or a 14km drive and a 30-minute ferry.
The second largest town on Kefalonia, Lixouri has an old port and a welcoming, quaint atmosphere. The main square by the port is bordered on three sides by lovely cafes, bars and tavernas. Check out the Jacobean-era Lahovatios Library, where you can marvel at rare books and manuscripts that once belonged to the aristocracy. In town, pick up some local honey and one of the island’s famous soaps made from extra virgin olive oil and fresh herbs.
Kefalonia is home to heavenly beaches all around the island. Two of the most spectacular are Xi and Petani beach. Red-sand Xi beach is so unique - framed with sand cliffs and bright red clay that visitors can use for a DIY spa moment. The water is warm and shallow, perfect for swimming. Petani beach has white pebbles and crystalline blue water. Many visitors dive into the sea by jumping off the large rock at the eastern end.
Melissani Cave is a beauty spot ideal for nature enthusiasts with two intriguing chambers. There’s a light cave illuminated by a hole in the ceiling, with gorgeous blue-green water and a dark cave with fascinating stalagmites. The cave is surrounded by lush forestry and is also known as the Cave of the Nymphs, in part because of the imagery of nymphs inside the cave. There are also clay figures that can be observed inside the chambers.
Greek food is notoriously fresh and delicious. The best place to sample some local fare is at a traditional taverna. Guests can tuck into some tasty moussaka - layers of minced meat and tomato sauce with aubergine and creamy bechamel sauce, baked like a lasagne. Another dish to try is souvlaki, which is skewered meat and sometimes vegetables, grilled to perfection. Examples of local delicacies on Kefalonia are mandola, consisting of roasted almonds and sugar with local seaweed, which gives the snack a red hue. Riganada is a tasty dish made from bread slices with oregano and feta cheese.
Kipouri is a beautiful and famous monastery on Kefalonia. It is also known as ’Land of the Vegetables’ after the monks that used to take care of the garden. Inside, discover ancient artefacts and religious imagery. Dramatically overhanging a 100m high cliff, this monastery has an expansive courtyard that is a fantastic seat for the region’s amazing sunsets. Take your place and watch the skylight on fire.

About the area
Cephalonia, the largest of the Ionian Islands in Greece, is a captivating destination that offers a blend of stunning natural beauty, rich history, and charming local culture. Known for its dramatic landscapes, the island boasts mountainous terrain, lush forests, and some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece.
One of the island's most famous beaches is Myrtos, renowned for its dazzling white pebbles and turquoise waters, set against a backdrop of steep cliffs. It's a perfect spot for sunbathing, swimming, and capturing breathtaking photographs. Similarly, Antisamos Beach, featured in the film "Captain Corelli's Mandolin," offers a picturesque setting with its crystal-clear waters and surrounding green hills.
Cephalonia is also home to the enchanting Melissani Cave, where visitors can take a boat ride on an underground lake that is illuminated by a natural skylight, creating a magical atmosphere. The nearby Drogarati Cave, with its impressive stalactites and stalagmites, is another geological marvel not to be missed.
The island's rich history is evident in its various archaeological sites and historic landmarks. The Castle of Saint George, perched atop a hill near the village of Peratata, provides panoramic views of the island and a glimpse into its Venetian past. The Archaeological Museum in the capital, Argostoli, offers insights into Cephalonia's ancient history, showcasing artifacts from the Mycenaean, Hellenistic, and Roman periods.
Cephalonia's villages are full of character and charm, with Assos being one of the most picturesque. This small village is built on a peninsula and features colorful houses, a Venetian fortress, and tranquil harbors. Fiscardo, another beautiful village, retains its traditional Ionian architecture and is a hub for yachting, with a vibrant waterfront lined with cafes and restaurants.
The island's culinary offerings are a delight, with local tavernas serving fresh seafood, traditional Greek dishes, and the famous Robola wine, which is produced in Cephalonia's own vineyards. The island's olive oil and honey are also highly prized for their quality and flavor.
For those who love adventure, Cephalonia provides ample opportunities for hiking, with Mount Ainos, the highest peak in the Ionian Islands, offering challenging trails and the chance to encounter the unique Kefalonian fir tree. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy snorkeling, diving, and kayaking in the island's clear waters.
In essence, Cephalonia is a destination that offers something for everyone, from breathtaking natural wonders and historical treasures to delightful culinary experiences and warm Greek hospitality. It's a place where the beauty of the Ionian Sea meets the charm of traditional Greek island life.
