THE NEIGHBORHOOD Plaka is the old historical neighborhood of Athens, clustered around the northern and eastern slopes of the Acropolis, and incorporating labyrinthine streets and neoclassical architecture. It is located between Syntagma and Monastiraki square. Adrianou Street (running north and south) is the largest and most central street in Plaka. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and coffee shops in the neighborhood. Nearby is Ermou street (15 min walk), which is the main shopping street of Athens. Numerous of major Athens sights can be found In the neighborhood. Just in front of the building is the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Museums include the new Acropolis Museum (4 minute walk from the apartment), the new Jewish Museum of Greece (10 min walk), the Museum of Greek Folk Art (10 min walk), an annex of which is the Old Public Baths building, the Frissiras Museum, the Museum of Popular Music Instruments, the Museum of Pavlos and Alexandra Kanellopoulou and the Athens University Museum (12 min walk).
