In the heart of the city, in the best area of Triana: this area of the city stands out for its beautiful streets, wide range of shops and diverse gastronomic offer. The suggestive thing about this neighbourhood is that it continues to preserve the small traditional haberdashery, bakeries, ice cream parlors, shoemakers, and fashion stores.
A few steps from the Restaurants "La Mafia y Allende". Less than 1 minute walk, from supermarkets, bakery, prepared meals, pharmacy, public transport, and the San Telmo station, to enjoy the entire Island.
The Triana district, which together with that of Vegueta form the oldest in the capital, has become the most important commercial area of Las Palmas, especially since its main street became pedestrianized. It has numerous clothing outlets, from small antique shops to large firms and modern boutiques.
In contrast to the Vegueta neighbourhood, which with its narrow streets and old buildings transport you back to the Middle Ages, the Triana neighbourhood is more bourgeois, due to the fact that many local merchant families, Andalusians, English, Maltese and Danish settled here . For this reason, it is explained that the main street that runs through the entire district has such a colossal display of architectural styles from the 18th to the 20th centuries. Despite the modern houses that were built at the beginning of the street, all of it was declared a national historical monument.
To the south of Triana, almost in front of the Vegueta Market, you will find the Pérez Galdós Theatre, which owes its name to the second most famous writer in the country after Cervantes. After a spectacular remodelling of the façade that was very dilapidated, this theatre can now be enjoyed along with its opulent interiors and spacious auditorium. The Pérez Galdós offers a very diverse program: classical music recitals, jazz concerts, plays, etc. Nearby, on the corner of Calle Cano and Peregrina, is the Pérez Galdós House Museum.

About the area
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the cosmopolitan capital of the Canary Islands, is a city that offers a delightful mix of sun, sea, and culture. As a travel destination, it appeals to a wide range of visitors, from beach lovers to history buffs, and from foodies to adventure seekers.
The city's crown jewel is undoubtedly Las Canteras Beach, a stunning stretch of golden sand that is often considered one of the best urban beaches in the world. Protected by a natural reef, the waters here are calm and perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and surfing. The beachfront promenade, lined with cafes and restaurants, is the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely stroll or a meal with a view.
Las Palmas is also rich in history and culture. The Vegueta district, the city's historic heart, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can wander through narrow, cobblestone streets and admire the colonial architecture. Key historical sites include the Cathedral of Santa Ana, the Columbus House (Casa de Colón), where Christopher Columbus is said to have stayed, and the Canarian Museum, which delves into the indigenous history of the islands.
The city's culinary scene is another highlight, offering a fusion of Spanish, African, and Latin American flavors. Visitors can indulge in fresh seafood, sample traditional Canarian dishes such as papas arrugadas (wrinkled potatoes) with mojo sauce, and enjoy the vibrant tapas culture.
For those interested in the arts, Las Palmas does not disappoint. The city boasts a number of galleries and cultural institutions, including the Atlantic Center of Modern Art (CAAM) and the Pérez Galdós Theater, which hosts a variety of performances throughout the year.
Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do beyond the beach. The nearby countryside offers hiking and cycling opportunities, with scenic trails that showcase the island's volcanic landscapes and lush vegetation. The Jardín Botánico Canario Viera y Clavijo, the largest botanical garden in Spain, is a must-visit for nature lovers.
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a city that truly has something for everyone. With its year-round pleasant climate, diverse attractions, and welcoming atmosphere, it's a destination that promises a memorable and enjoyable experience for all who visit.
