If your dreams of Tuscany feature rolling hills, olive groves, quaint farmhouses and a touch of modern luxury, look no further than this villa. Nestled into olive groves with views of Lucca in the distance, the villa has all the charm of rural Tuscany but makes a convenient base for exploring the area. And although the six-bedroom Villa was restored in 2020 to feature perks like its own Spa, its architecture is still beautifully traditional.
Get a glimpse of daily life in Italy as you stroll the villa’s garden, relax on the terrace, dip into the panoramic swimming pool, grill local produce on the barbecue and sip wine at the outdoor dining area while gazing at the far-off medieval towers of Lucca. Whether you’ve been biking in the countryside or just sampling the local gelato, treat yourself to a session in the villa’s indoor jacuzzi at candlelight and an evening in front of the antique chimneypiece watching your favourite movies in multiple languages.
Though you can see the past of VILLA IL CASTELLO in its traditional brick floors, beamed ceilings and fireplaces, the interiors feel bright and airy thanks to updated furniture and crisp light blue and white paint. Let yourself be charmed by the living room’s geometric-patterned rug and elaborately carved sofa table as you sink into the sleek taupe sectional. A long table, eclectic chairs and a contemporary chandelier make the dining room particularly inviting, and the fully equipped kitchen has a central breakfast bar perfect for gathering around.
The bedrooms at VILLA IL CASTELLO have the same intriguing combination of soft, traditional earth-toned walls and furnishings with a slightly modern edge.
Plan to fly into the Pisa airport, which is only 35 mins from the Villa. The museums, cafes and shopping in Lucca are just under 7 km from the property while groceries, supermarket and restaurants are just 2 kms away, and if it’s not a vacation without Thermal Baths, you’re in luck: Bagni di Pisa is only 15 km away. Take a day trip to San Gimignano, Pisa, Florence, Pistoia, Montecatini Terme, Cinque Terre, Volterra, Bolgheri, Forte dei Marmi, Viareggio or continue your Italian getaway in Rome, 278 km away.
The villa is fully private, and the visible houses at the borders are empty rural buildings.

About the area
Lucca, Italy, is a captivating city that embodies the quintessential charm of Tuscany. Enclosed by well-preserved Renaissance walls that have been transformed into a pedestrian promenade, the city invites visitors to step back in time and explore its historical treasures at a leisurely pace.
The heart of Lucca is its old town, a labyrinth of cobblestone streets, picturesque piazzas, and elegant buildings. The Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, a unique elliptical square, is a highlight, built on the ruins of an ancient Roman amphitheater. Visitors can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the piazza, which is lined with cafes and shops, perfect for sipping a cappuccino and people-watching.
Lucca's rich history is showcased in its numerous churches, the most famous being the San Michele in Foro with its stunning façade and the Lucca Cathedral (Duomo di San Martino), which houses remarkable artworks and the revered Volto Santo di Lucca, a wooden crucifix. The city's religious heritage is further celebrated during the Luminara di Santa Croce festival, where Lucca is illuminated by thousands of candles in a breathtaking display.
For those with a taste for adventure, climbing the Guinigi Tower offers a rewarding experience. The tower is notable for the ancient oak trees growing atop its roof, providing a unique vantage point over the city and the surrounding Tuscan countryside.
Music enthusiasts will find Lucca especially endearing as it is the birthplace of the famous composer Giacomo Puccini. The Puccini Museum, located in his childhood home, is a pilgrimage site for opera lovers, and the city hosts an annual summer festival celebrating his works.
Beyond its historical and cultural offerings, Lucca is also a gateway to the Tuscan landscape, with opportunities for cycling and hiking along the Serchio River or through the nearby hills. The city's culinary scene is equally enticing, featuring traditional Tuscan cuisine, fine wines, and local specialties like Buccellato, a sweet bread that is a Lucca staple.
Lucca's blend of history, culture, and natural beauty, combined with its relaxed atmosphere and friendly locals, makes it a destination that offers a truly authentic Italian experience. Whether you're seeking to immerse yourself in history, enjoy the arts, or simply indulge in the pleasures of Italian life, Lucca is a city that will capture your heart and leave you longing to return.
