Just a short drive from Cannes, this tranquil retreat is steeped in art, gastronomy, and a rich history that captivates travelers seeking a blend of culture and relaxation.
The village's narrow winding streets, lined with ancient houses, lead to charming squares filled with fountains and sculptures. Mougins has a strong artistic heritage, having been a haven for many artists and celebrities, including Pablo Picasso, who spent the last 12 years of his life here. This artistic legacy is celebrated at the Museum of Classical Art in Mougins, which showcases a mix of ancient, neoclassical, and modern art.
Gastronomy is another pillar of Mougins' allure. The annual 'Les Étoiles de Mougins' festival transforms the village into an open-air theater of culinary arts, attracting chefs and food enthusiasts from around the world.
For those interested in horticulture, the Garden of the International Perfume Museum is a sensory delight, displaying a variety of plants used in the creation of perfumes. The proximity to Grasse, the perfume capital of the world, allows for an easy extension of this olfactory journey.
Nature lovers will appreciate the surrounding Valmasque forest, which provides a verdant backdrop to Mougins and offers numerous trails for hiking and picnicking. The panoramic views from the village itself span across the verdant landscape to the Bay of Cannes, providing a stunning vista that is especially magical at sunset.
Mougins also caters to golf enthusiasts, with several prestigious golf courses in the vicinity, offering challenging play amidst the scenic beauty of the French Riviera.
